"Vulnerability is the cornerstone of confidence." - Oprah. I NEVER workout in just a sports bra for my top. So posting this pic is a big deal for me. It's not just a gratuitous ploy to get likes and compliments. I am allowing myself to be vulnerable to prove a point. The courage to be vulnerable can mean the difference between achieving a goal or just dreaming about it. Putting yourself out on the line by going to a new gym, trying a new class, working with a new trainer/nutritionist or setting a new goal can be scary and intimidating and make you feel vulnerable. Yet, if you don't open up to new challenges you'll never get the opportunity to succeed and build confidence. πŸ‘ŠπŸ’―πŸ’ͺ

I based tonight's back workout off an article by @jaycutler that I read on @bodybuildingcom today and it was KILLER ☠️. I was looking for a high intensity "widening" back workout and @jaycutler's article laid out some great lat exercises and recommended high reps (3 sets of 12) with very little rest between sets. Thank you to @rondurance for catching this candid moment of @mariebalans and I work- shopping squats with a unilateral valgus stress for dynamic glute med strengthening. This exercise aims to correct pelvic imbalances which could ultimately leads to back, hip, or knee pain. Here I mention assessing her ankle mobility for adequate dorsiflexion because we notice that she is externally rotating her foot when squatting. A lack of ankle dorsiflexion creates increase in lateral movement at the ankle which can sometimes lead to ankle sprains. Where I currently sit - a physique that is maintainable, healthy, and strong.  Some meals I track, but most I don't.  I eat when I'm hungry, but stop before I'm full. I train 3-5x a week, but I haven't been on a treadmill for more than 5 minutes in the last 3 months. I'm focused more on my overall health, rather than just reaching an aesthetic goal.  I'll have a beer whenever I please, but I am happy with only having one and then switch back to water.  I'm eating a wider variety of foods, and never feel restricted. Where I currently sit - a physique that is maintainable, healthy, and strong. Some meals I track, but most I don't. I eat when I'm hungry, but stop before I'm full. I train 3-5x a week, but I haven't been on a treadmill for more than 5 minutes in the last 3 months. I'm focused more on my overall health, rather than just reaching an aesthetic goal. I'll have a beer whenever I please, but I am happy with only having one and then switch back to water. I'm eating a wider variety of foods, and never feel restricted. International Day of Yoga ❀️ oh what an incredible journey and life yoga has given me. It is hard to believe a year ago I could barely move out of my bed from heartbreak, couldn't practice, couldn't notice my breath. I was so upset it was international day of yoga and I couldn't practice the asana. But I have learned so much since then that it is also off the mat, more so off the mat. I strive to be honest about my journey in yoga. It is so much more than physical. My life is not perfect, I do not try to make it look that way. But honestly, I do find my yoga mat 5-6 times a week. I do meditate 7 days a week, and I am constantly learning. It is a beautiful journey. I have loved every moment. I am so blessed to be teaching and practicing. It is hard to believe a year ago I could barely move out of my bed from heartbreak, couldn't practice, couldn't notice my breath. I was so upset it was international day of yoga and I couldn't practice the asana. But I have learned so much since then that it is also off the mat, more so off the mat. I strive to be honest about my journey in yoga. It is so much more than physical. My life is not perfect, I do not try to make it look that way. But honestly, I do find my yoga mat 5-6 times a week. I do meditate 7 days a week, and I am constantly learning. It is a beautiful journey. I have loved every moment. I am so blessed to be teaching and practicing. Hadn't done a muscle up in over a month. I love that by having a diverse training program that incorporates everything from Olympic lifting to powerlifting to body weight training helps me maintain skills like this. I care so much less these days about how much weight I can load up on the bar, which opens my training up to be less rigid and much more fun! I still love to lift heavy things, but it's no longer only about the number on the bar, it's about how that lifting makes me feel and how it helps my other life endeavors!
