So how do you start your morning to ensure that you have clarity to execute the day with confidence? I see a system around setting up your day is a key to success. A walk to the beach while listen to a podcast leaves me prepared for any day any situation.
Team meetings that add buzz!⠀
In the previous chapter, Leading your team to success, I talked about the team meeting. It doesn’t need to be long and serious - in fact, I suggest you keep it fun, focused and close to 15 minutes in length. It needs to have a structure and a point, and you need to put some thought into what you can get through in the time. It’s really a time when you share your goals with the team and you all brainstorm ways to achieve them, and the numbers that will take the salon in the right direction.⠀
Often someone will say to me “But what can the girl who does facials and the ones who do waxing, nails or hair say to help each other?” I usually hear this in salons with 5-10 employees who provide a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, and I usually put a bit of humour into my answer. The reality is that every client has an entire body that your colleagues could treat - if your specialty is facials then why not mention the latest nail treatment, or hair treatment. Perhaps there’s a makeup artist in the salon and you learn that your client is having the facial a few days prior to a special event so you could suggest a professional make-up for the occasion, or having her hair⠀
