Get Out (Jordan Peele, 2017)
A young black man meets the parents of his white girlfriend for the first time, spending the weekend at their secluded rural estate, but the amicable situation slowly turns into a waking nightmare.
"Get Out" is written and directed by Jordan Peele of Comedy Central's sketch show "Key & Peele." But the movie is quite a detour from the comedy he's famous for. "Get Out" is a smart thriller brimming with suspense, but it does have moments of hilarity in it. It's hard to overstate the brilliance of Peele's script. It ratchets up the creepiness so gradually, that by the time it becomes unbearable, it would have been too late for you or the main character to turn back. And on top of everything else, it contains tongue-in-cheek commentary about race relations in America. "Get Out" is one clever ditty.
