B a l a n c e - APT Functional Fitness & Circuit Small Groups always incorporate ways to use your proprioception - where you are in space - and the brain & body adjusting to an unstable surface to use balance. Use it or lose is definitely true - we don't just need to build strong muscles, we need to stimulate inbuilt senses that in turn help build a strong balanced posture with mobility & strengthen muscles as part of the bigger picture. The bosu dome is a great way to gradually build your balance and stability, initially for some just standing on it is challenging, then squatting and there is always a progressive option each time you feel you have nailed each one. Tip: Try lunging with one foot on the dome as the next option to a squat - 4 on each leg. ✅👌🏼😄

There is such a calm peaceful feeling out here prior to the high energy of the @footwork_king and the players showing up to put in the hard work. 😊 Several years ago, I have to admit, I never would have thought I would be saying I work at an outdoor football field and absolutely love it! 
Rischad & his Blitz Football field have given me a platform to EDUCATE players on the importance of good balanced POSTURE, strong PROPRIOCEPTION & improving the TIMING of muscle contractions makeing sure all muscles are firing as intended to help increase power & speed and decrease the risk of injury. We need not fear "natural movements" of the horse. Nature is the best trainer, but we have all been told to be so careful and cautious with our horses -- that everything is a risk of injury. Turnout IS an extreme sport. And so is daily living. If we view *natural* movement as harmful and risky, we put our horse at greater risk by NOT keeping the horse prepared for these movements. It is a mistake, we believe, to follow a training program for horse or human that postpones certain movements for a long time *if* those movements are part of a normal horse movement pattern. The risk of *not* preparing a horse for these moments is that he will be injured in daily life. The very best we can do for a horse is ensure he has a very rich *movement nutrient diet.* That means a variety of movements that express his full range of motion in all planes. This is the greatest protection for the horse because it increases the sensory input to the horse's brain, and THAT is where we get the coordination and timing of stabilizers that are the only real protection the horse has to both *prevent* injuries but also make the unpredictable movements less damaging. If we work a horse only in these "safe" and limited ranges of motion, with short strides and avoiding any possible physical stress, we are REDUCING the vitality of the horses's body by restricting fluid and nutrients moving into those end ranges of motion, but more important-- we are robbing the horse's brain of the sensory/proprioceptive experiences it needs to restore healthy movement. It's *right* to think carefully about damage from training, but training too conservatively is also harmful. And the best way to prevent training-related damage is to avoid repetitive drills and focus on both movement *variety* and movement *variability* ("repetition without repetition"). And the other crucial protection is to never -- ever -- ask the horse for more extreme movement using *force*. Overworking a horse in stressful movement is a huge problem as even safe/good movement can cause repetitive/cumulative damage if drilled. But labeling natural and authentic movement as "too fancy" does not help the horse 🌿. The horse was born fancy!❤
