Dir: Ewuraba Hama-Lansiquot aka Rabz Lansiquot..... - 'A film exploring the complex effects and outcomes of racial stereotyping, whereby personality traits are associated with races; leaving young people of colour feeling isolated from both their respective minority group and the racial majority.' -
Rabz is a Filmmaker, DJ and member of sorryyoufeeluncomfortable collective, currently working on a Masters in Documentary Film at Sussex University. Rabz’s DJ sets usually include an eclectic mix of bass-heavy black electronic music, including Afro-House, Gqom, Vogue and Funky House, but her music collection also includes Spiritual Jazz, Soul, Hip-Hop and Ambient Global sounds. Her film, visual work and musical output is informed by social and political theory, her Undergraduate study in Anthropology and her lived experience as a queer Black woman in the UK. She seeks to highlight the nuances of marginalised experiences, using the power of visual media and sound to move through representation and into the realm of liberation.
THIS FILM IS MEANT TO BE ABOUT #STOKELYCARMICHAEL - A FILM BY ISIS THOMPSON
Dir: Isis Thompson - 'Having spent years surrounding herself with White middle class culture, filmmaker Isis Thompson asks herself why making a film about her cousin, 60’s Black radical Stokely Carmichael, is such a battle? Is it because, as her friends tell her, she isn’t very good at being Black?' -
Produced in association with The National Film & Television School.
