One set from a couple of editorial illustrations I did in the winter issue of Trail Run Magazine. This article is on harassment and predatory behavior towards runners in public. Like all the other articles in the mag it's well written and has a good dash of humour, and the paper stock is real pretty.
#medalmonday and Ruidoso Half Marathon race recap!!! Let me start with this photo, we get back to the hotel, exhausted and realize we took no pictures of me... 😔 The only one was our pre-race photo which came out too blurry so, we snapped this today on our way out of town. 😕 📷 🚙 🗻
Mile 1-3 The lead pack breaks away, there were four of us, I felt strong, like I could push harder. Mile 4 Me and the guy who took first break away, third and fourth fall back from each other. It was somewhere here my body suddenly felt fatigued, I ignored it and pushed through thinking maybe I had too much rest. Mile 5 I began to struggle, a hard burning knot in my throat below my adams apple begans to build and I can't get it up, muscles start to ache. Mile 6 I get to the top of a hill, oh yeah if I didn't mention this course had over nine hundred feet of climb, anyway there's the RD tells me his volunteers went to the wrong spot... No Water!!! Here I am dying with heartburn indigestion and NO WATER?!?!? I get passed and fall to third. Mile 8 I began to get a painful side stitch as a
I climb the last and steepest hill and finally to my first water station. I get passed and fall to fourth as I stop completely and drink some water. Mile 9-13 These last few were struggle bus city, alone.. so alone. I tried to maintain form, and walked the other water station as well as a couple times in between. However did finish fourth overall, first AG in what I would consider my most problematic race. I usually don't have gi issues so this was new and unwelcome, had stomach pain the remainder of the day but feel fine today. Anyway, still had a great time and now have much I can take from this experience!!! 💪😁 🗻 🏃 🙆
Buzzing that I'll be shooting @ultramonterosa this summer. Here's a capture from the inaugural race that I shot.
A race directed by Lizzy Hawker that flies under the radar but if you're up for a beautiful 100 mile course in early September that stretches from Northern Italy into Switzerland & one that makes you work hard then this one is highly recommended. Follow profile link for race site.
After spending all day sitting on PD, I needed to get a run in. 6 miles around the lake and then a great bicep and shoulder workout.
Highlight of the day: talking to littleman ❤️❤️ 8 days down, 9 more to go.
10,000+ meters of UP.
20,826 calories burned.
But beyond those stats, a journey that entailed a wide range of emotions. I feel like something powerful and magical occurred out there that I can't quite put into words yet. .
Doing this solo was an important element to me. Spending time on the trails goes far beyond the physical conditioning. There is a mental fortitude that develops as well. And I wholeheartedly believe it carries into every day living. What you learn on the trails, impacts who you are off the trail.
And why the extra kilometers? I deviated from the #utmb course here and there. Sometimes unintentionally as in navigation errors (aka getting lost 😂) and sometimes intentional such as going off route to find food, needing to cross the river at a different spot, cow detours, getting to/from my sleep spot each day, etc.
Much #love and #gratitude . XO 💕
My girls are my REASON to push through and conquer the hard stuff in life. Training for a full marathon and ultramarathon not only take dedication and commitment, but the training forces you to overcome your fears and push through the tough stuff. Just remember why you started this journey, whether it was to lose weight, boost your confidence, or PR on that next race. We all come into the running community with different values and goals but it is that COMMUNITY that keeps us motivated to keep running #foodforthought#marathontraining
Never been the fastest runner, but I have been working my tail off to add some speed. Today was 1 mile:2 minute rest for 6 miles and I was super stoked with my times.
7:23 - 7:25 - 7:47 - 8:00 - 7:45 - 7:43
Only a few days left before the Palmerton Super and I am just about ready to go. Heat acclimation ✅ Blue Mountain Terrain ready ✅ now just need to dial in on water intake! 💦
